The "alpha" phase involves:
- building and iterating prototypes of a service
- testing prototypes with users
- validating the feasibility of a solution
Building prototypes in the alpha phase allows service improvement teams to:
- find the and fix problems with the design of a service
- gather data to help inform future design choices
- develop more detailed cost estimates
- identify the potential risks for proceeding to "beta" phase, as early as possible
- determine if the solution should proceed to the "beta" phase
